City of St. Louis

The City of St. Louis is the hub of a greater metropolitan area which includes not only the City itself, but also St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, and many counties on the Illinois side.  Each area has its own distinct flavor that has developed strong sense of loyalty for its inhabitants.

The City, however, is in reality of a collection of neighborhoods under the umbrella of a central government.  When you click on the "Neighborhood" button, you will see that neighborhoods have developed very strongly within the City. Clicking here is the web site of the City of St. Louis which will provide considerable information for those seeking information from the City's City Hall.

Up until the current real estate "crunch" the City of St. Louis had turned the corner on loss of population that has plagued many other urban communities.  New construction is evident in many of the neighborhoods of buyers wishing to live within the amenities of the City but wishing to enjoy the amenities of new construction.  At one point, there were more building permits issued within the City then in the County.  Much of the incentive for investors were the historic tax credits that could be gained thru rehabbing that met the very strict guidelines of restoration.  These tax credits were as long as 10 years in total which was very compelling for home buyers.

Living in the City has so much to offer these days that it is important to understand the compelling reasons for giving serious consideration to locating in the City.  The purpose of this part of my web site is to provide those reasons by pointing you to other web sites that will give you a capsule view of what living in the City of St. Louis could mean to you. This is, obviously, not an all encompassing review but merely a snapshot of what the City could mean for you.
