Holly Hills is a neighborhood that is undergoing considerable changes. The home stock in this neighborhood is of wonderful quality as compared to other areas in the city. Most of the homes are of brick construction and are stone due to the availability of material from the many quarries that were mined in the St. Louis area during the mid to late 1850.to1900.
Being in Holly Hills is like being in a very different area of St. Louis. This neighborhood is similar to those found in Clayton with homes of stature and character. The area borders Carondolet Park, which is a gathering point for many of Holly Hill's activities. Just as the Lafayette Park is to Lafayette Square, Carondolet Park is to Holly Hills.
The residents of Holly Hills are very involved in the community and take great pride in their homes and the surrounding areas. For many of the residents, they can point out with pride that their parents and their parents have lived in their home.
One of major pluses to living in Holly Hills is that it is so convenient to major venues like south Grand, Downtown, South County shopping center, and the Chippewa-Kingshighway area. Being so very close to the many restaurants on south Grand has to make this a strong justification for living in Holly Hills.
Also, Holly Hills is adjacent to Highway 55 so that you can get to other 44, 40, 55 or 270 in just a matter of minutes.
